semester report

throughout this course i have learned many things this year, I have learned about dialogue, characterization, imagery, satire, authors style ,genre, for example fantasy, thriller, horror and may more.

the purpose of this essay is to reflect on what I have learned this year.

starting off with characterization, it is a direct  description in which the characters are described by the narrator, or another character.

a good example of this would be,”holly is really fast she always beats everyone on the track team.” another example would be, “Sarah is the prettiest girl in school she only won the beauty contest  5 times in a row.”

In all characterization is a very detailed description of another character told through the narrators or main characters eyes.

Secondly, character development is the author giving each character a distinct role based off of their personality, for example Jim is adventurous and charismatic, so he is the leader of the group.

Another example would be, Sally is always studying and is always in her books, so she is the smart one of the group

in all it is a form of  letting the reader know what to expect from each character through the characters personality.

One of the most of the most important thing you find in almost every single book is dialogue. Dialogue is the conversation between two or more characters in a book. The dialogue help the reader understand what the characters want and are feeling. Without dialogue you don’t feel any connection to the characters. Without dialogue books would be pretty boring since you wouldn’t get to see the characters view.

Overall dialogue is the key to all books plays, and movies.

Imagery is a way the author describes setting, sight, touch, and sound. Without imagery the book would be overall boring since you wouldn’t understand what is happening around the characters, usually the more descriptive the book the more interesting it is.

The authors style is the writing style that the authors chose and have developed. It includes figurative language, sentence arrangement, genre, and word choice. every writer has a preference. The author need to figure out what the problem will be, how it will be solved, the characters, their personalities, and the setting. Overall the authors style is how the book will be developed.

Overall I have learned a Lot this year and hope to use these to better improve my writing skills.

I wish to learn more about this in the next semester!
